Bright Magenta Stacks

I didn’t have a whole lot of time yesterday, so I had to stay away from the figural material.

One of the larger artistic concerns that I’m consistently trying to address is not overwork a piece. If you follow this blog at all, it’s one of my most frequently mentioned weaknesses. Every mark laid down can be sufficient unto itself and does not need to fit into within a web as grand as the universe itself. I constantly have to remind myself of this.

The block to the left probably took me 45 minutes, while the block to the right, 15. I love realizing that the textural space to the right is where my eye is most constantly drawn, even though it was the most “cheaply” produced…

The usual FCP pens were used on a folded in half sheet of bristol board.
